As the name says, Heliconia Island is a 5 acre, nicely designed botanical garden with most heliconias and a lot of other plants and trees. There are also two pieces of jungle with a trail through them. The bird list of the island counts 230 species, what makes Heliconia island a real birdwatchers paradise. You can also see howler monkeys, sloths, poison dart frogs, iguanas and other animals.

Day 2: RAFTING ON THE SARAPIQUI RIVER OR CANOPY TOUR
Discover the beautiful river while admiring the rainforest. Challenge the rapids in different classes, together with the bilingual and professional guides.
To do a canopy tour is an amazing experience. It consist a 14 zip-line adventure from which you can enjoy incredible passages through the rainforest. You will cross the Sarapiqui River two times! The guides are experienced and the equipment has the highest quality.

Float downstream with a guide on an inflatable boat for a 3 hour tour through nature. You will paddle while seeing iguanas, monkeys and a lot of birds. It is possible to see crocodiles.
The tour goes towards Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, where you will be picked up by car.

Day 2: LA SELVA BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH STATION
This place is on the edge of Braulio Carrillo National Park, a biological research spot, in the rainforest, for biologists and students from around the world. In a three-hour guided walk on paved paths, you get interesting information about the fauna and flora which are abundant.

VISIT “FROGSHEAVEN”
On a local farm, the owners developed the perfect habitats for different frog species of Costa Rica. The frogs don’t live in captivity in this way. Some species are hard to find in daytime, like the glass frog and the “must see frog” of Costa Rica, the red eyed tree frog, so these species can be seen here in a frog house. If wanted, people can get more information about the live of farmers and visit the heart of palm plantation. Different fruits can be tasted and more animals can be seen, like different bird species, lizards, turtles and caimans. About 16 orchid species grow in the trees.
